Year 6’s Wonderful Hospitality!
Oh, The Places We’ll Go! A Journey of Food, Family and Future Dreams.
What an exciting and memorable day we had in Year 6! The school hall was filled with delicious smells, happy chatter and some very special visitors as we combined cooking, creativity and conversation for an afternoon themed around Oh! The Places You’ll Go by Dr Seuss.
In the morning, the children rolled up their sleeves and became chefs for the day. Working carefully in teams, they prepared a wonderful selection of food for a shared buffet. On the menu were delicious leek tarts, savoury muffins and a mouth-watering apple cake. The children practised important skills such as mixing, chopping and following recipes, all while demonstrating excellent teamwork and hygiene.
In the afternoon, we were delighted to welcome parents, grandparents and other loved ones into school. Our theme, Oh! The Places You’ll Go, encouraged everyone to think about life’s journey - the places we travel, the challenges we overcome and the dreams we hold for the future.
The children spent time talking with their special visitors about their life journeys so far, and they also shared their own ambitions for the future. We heard dreams of becoming teachers, engineers, footballers, artists, vets and even astronauts! The room was filled with excitement as the children spoke confidently about the “places” they hope to go and the goals they want to achieve.
To finish our afternoon, everyone enjoyed the buffet that the children had so carefully prepared. It was a joy to see adults and children sitting together, sharing food, stories and laughter. The food was a great success and every dish received a glowing review!
