Year 3 Stone Age Adventures
Over the last week, Year 3 took an exciting journey thousands of years into the past - all the way back to the Stone Age! Full of curiosity, the children spent the day living like prehistoric people. They started by making their own tools using natural materials, making sparks for fires and building shelters - just like our ancestors did!
Using ingredients - like mud, leaves, berries and charcoal - the class created their own Stone Age paints. With these, they decorated ‘cave walls’ with handprints, animals and mysterious symbols in the style of real ancient cave paintings.
Then came the ultimate challenge: building waterproof shelters. Working in teams, the children constructed shelters from sticks, leaves and tarpaulin. But were they waterproof? The children found out the fun way - by throwing water over them to test their designs! There were no soggy children in the testing process, but there was lots of laughter! It was a brilliant day full of creativity, teamwork and muddy hands. Year 3 truly became Stone Age survivors for a day!
