Farm-tastic Food in Year 3!

Linking with our topic 'Food Glorious Food', Year 3 enjoyed a wonderful day out at Packington Farm, getting hands-on with life on a real working farm.

The children met the farm's sheep and pigs up close, and took a careful look at birds' nests, learning about how different animals make their homes.  Perhaps the highlight of the day was building their very own giant nest - big enough to fit twelve of them at once!

A nature walk and scavenger hunt had everyone locating posters with different food products, which led to a discussion about which foods come from which animals.

To round off the visit, the group explored the full farming process - from field to table - before rolling up their sleeves and making their own mini flatbreads from scratch.  A very tasty end to a brilliant trip.

Thankfully, the weather held up for us and the children had a fantastic time!
