Personal Development
Our Personal Development curriculum has been designed with the children at the very heart of it. It is intrinsic across our curriculum focussing on the importance of developing the ‘whole child’ so they have a clear sense of identity and individuality, that enables them to become responsible, respectful, active citizens who make a valuable and positive contribution to our society.
Our Cultural Capital is embedded throughout our English curriculum with an appreciation of our rich and varied literary heritage by listening to stories and poems by 'the greats' (classics). We promote a love of learning and develop the habit of reading widely and often with a range of reading incentives across the school and through our heavily invested book collection.
Our culturally rich curriculum is enhanced with visits from authors which help to raise the aspirations of our writers. Alongside our ‘No Outsiders’ book curriculum, our choice of books not only show a progression across the school but have clear links to equality, diversity, inclusion, multiculturalism, moral dilemmas and emotions. We develop confidence and a strong command in spoken language where children gain confidence to speak articulately within a range of different settings which develops our children to write clearly, accurately and coherently giving them key skills to write for differing purposes which will help them to thrive in many situations throughout their life. A robust vocabulary progression across the subject supports children in their language acquisition and in articulating themselves well within the wider world.
